On the ice, Nick Ford '20 stretched his team-leading point streak to eight consecutive games to begin the 2019-20 campaign with a pair of crucial goals, as EC went on the road and beat United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) foes Nazareth and Utica by scores of 5-2 and 4-2, respectively. On Friday in Rochester, the former All-American forward logged the game-winning goal by capping off a 3-0 run that put the Soaring Eagles up 3-1 over the Golden Flyers in the third period. The following night in Utica, Ford buried his second power-play tally of the year, one of three power-play goals netted by EC in the victory over the Pioneers.
A model of consistency through the first eight games of the season, the New Lenox, Illinois, native has posted one point in every game this season. He's tied for first on the team in goals (4) and ranks among the top five in the UCHC in power-play points (6).
In search of a third straight win, the EC men's ice hockey team will return home on Saturday, December 7, for the third annual Teddy Bear Toss Game against Lebanon Valley at 7:00 p.m. Fans who bring a new stuffed toy to the Murray Athletic Center will receive $2.00 off the price of admission and all teddy bears collected will be donated to Catholic Charities of Chemung and Schuyler Counties.
