In six games last week, Joe Morrone '22 hit the cover off the ball. The slugging first baseman paced the Soaring Eagles in batting average (.400), slugging percentage (.720), hits (10), extra-base hits (6), and doubles (5). Morrone also finished in a tie for the team lead in RBIs (6) and was one run shy of first place (5).
The junior from Edison, New Jersey, had a hit in every game and posted four multi-hit performances. In an 8-3 win over Houghton College on Saturday, Morrone batted 2-for-5 with a double, home run, season-high three RBIs, and two runs scored. He followed that up with a 2-for-5 effort with a double, one RBI, and one run in a 6-5 walk-off victory over Keuka College on Sunday.
Morrone and the Soaring Eagles will trek to Utica, New York, on Wednesday, May 5, to face Utica College. First pitch against the Pioneers is slated for 1:00 p.m.
